IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications must be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This can be done through a self-declaration. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from national entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International test scores, such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), are also accepted.

English proficiency test scores from exams like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination may also be required.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG courses will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct the interview. The committee will evaluate the candidate’s suitability for the program.
