IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.

Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) status, are eligible. The application portal is available at international.iitd.ac.in. The deadline is strictly 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 .

Admission Process and Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendations. Their feedback will focus on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International test scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

English language proficiency must be demonstrated. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. A self-declaration of proficiency is also required.

Selection Criteria

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. An interview committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct these interviews. The committee assesses the candidate’s suitability for the program.
