IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

The application portal is open until 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026. This admission cycle is for the academic years 2026-2027.

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters.

The notification states referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude. They will also assess proficiency in the chosen field. Potential for research and independent thinking are evaluated. English proficiency in oral and written forms is also assessed.

Academic and Entrance Exam Scores

IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international entrance examinations. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.

For international applicants, scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may be considered. English language proficiency test scores are also mandatory.

Accepted English tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other recognized language tests are also acceptable.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. The interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
