IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will evaluate the candidate’s aptitude, field-specific skills, research potential, independent thinking, and English language abilities.
Eligibility and Requirements
Admission requirements may include scores from national entrance exams. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.
Candidates also need to provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
