IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions 2026 for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Open for International Students

Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, can apply. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees. Referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Additional requirements may include scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International students may also submit scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Candidates must also submit scores from other recognized language tests if applicable.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The interview will assess the candidate’s suitability for the program.
