IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline for applications is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are for the academic years 2026-27.
Interested candidates must submit a statement declaring English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills. This information comes from an official IIT Delhi notification.
IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Admission decisions are based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations. Interviews are conducted by a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
Applicants must also submit English language proficiency test scores. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
