IIT Delhi has opened applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign national students can apply. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Applications are for the academic years 2026-27 . Interested students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
The application portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. This applies to all foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will comment on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. Accepted tests include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records receive interview invitations. Interviews are conducted by a faculty committee in the relevant discipline.
Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be accepted.
