The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for international students to its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) status, can apply online. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. The application portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. Interested candidates should visit international.iitd.ac.in to apply.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national and international examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), DST INSPIRE, Graduate Records Examination (GRE), and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination may also be required.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview committee will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
