Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Admissions Open for International Students
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
The application portal will close on March 30, 2026, at 4 PM . Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They will also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Admission Process Details
Referees will be contacted to comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills. This information is stated in the official notification.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. Acceptable scores include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Selection Criteria
Final selection for admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant disciplines.
Applicants must also submit scores from recognized English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, or any equivalent language assessment.
