Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply until March 30, 2026 . The application portal is open on the official IIT Delhi international admissions website.
Admission Details
Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. Both PhD and PG courses are available to eligible foreign students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM .
Eligibility Criteria
Non-Indian citizens are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Required Scores
Candidates may need to submit scores from specific entrance examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and the DST INSPIRE program. International students can also use Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores.
English language proficiency test scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. Interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The committee will evaluate candidates’ suitability for the program.
