IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply until March 30, 2026 , by 4 p.m. The application window is for the academic year 2026-27. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Non-Indian citizens are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates on overall aptitude. They will also comment on field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills, according to official notifications.

Admission Requirements

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national entrance examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The DST INSPIRE program is also a potential requirement.

International examination scores are also accepted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will admit students based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. These interviews will be conducted by a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
