IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.

Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website atinternational.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.

Admission Process and Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who can submit recommendation letters.

Referees will be asked to evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is based on the official IIT Delhi notification.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. These may include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. A committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline will conduct interviews for academically strong candidates.

Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, or similar assessments.
