Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals can apply for doctoral and master’s level courses for the 2026-27 academic year. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This requires a self-declaration of English language skills. Candidates must also provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Application Requirements
Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude. They will evaluate proficiency in the chosen field. Potential for research and independent thinking are also evaluated. English language proficiency will be a focus.
Required Scores
IIT Delhi may require scores from national and international entrance exams. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Other accepted scores are from CSIR, UGC NET, and DST INSPIRE. International exams like GRE and GMAT are also considered.
English language proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited. An interview committee of faculty members will conduct the interviews in the relevant discipline.
