Applications are accepted for the academic year 2026-27. Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must demonstrate English proficiency. This is typically done through a self-declaration statement.

Candidates are required to provide names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude and research potential. They will also assess English language skills, both written and oral.

Admission Requirements

Admission may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Other accepted tests are Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) program is also considered.

International examination scores are also relevant. These can include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Examples include TOEFL, IELTS, and TOEIC.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.

The interview committee assesses the candidate’s overall aptitude. They evaluate potential for research and independent thinking. Proficiency in the chosen field is also a key factor.
