IIT Delhi has opened applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students for the 2026-2027 academic year. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . International candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility Criteria
Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters.
The referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. Details are available on the official website.
Admission Requirements and Process
Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from national-level tests like GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores such as GRE and GMAT are also considered.
English language proficiency tests are mandatory. Accepted scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. A statement of proficiency is also required.
IIT Delhi will conduct interviews for admission. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline. The interview will assess their suitability for the program.
