The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4:00 PM.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
International applicants may also need to submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission to IIT Delhi programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
