IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those with Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can submit their applications online. The application portal will close at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from tests like:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
International students must also provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on candidate interviews. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
