IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Admissions are for the 2026-27 academic year. Prospective students can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website:international.iitd.ac.in.
Eligibility and Requirements
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of their English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who can provide recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. Specific test scores may be required for admission. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores like GRE and GMAT are also accepted.
Admission Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. Additionally, proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
