IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for foreign national students to apply is March 30, 2026 . Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.

Application Details

International students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website. The application portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026 .

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to submit recommendation letters.

According to official notifications, referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The DST INSPIRE program is also mentioned.

For international applicants, scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may be accepted.

English language proficiency tests are also a requirement. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi programs will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. This interview will be conducted by a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
