IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

IIT Delhi has opened admissions for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4:00 PM.

Interested applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.

Admission Requirements

Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be required.

English language proficiency test scores are also necessary. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination. Any other recognized language test may also be considered.

IIT Delhi will offer admission based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
