IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application window is specifically for international students . The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Admission Details

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are being accepted for the 2026-27 academic year . Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.

Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the DST INSPIRE program. International examination scores like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be required.

English language proficiency tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination scores are also necessary. Applicants must submit these scores for consideration.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. This interview will be a key factor in the admission decision.
