IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students | Apply by March 30

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for the 2026-27 academic year. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m. Interested candidates can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility Criteria

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of their English proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees who can supply recommendation letters.

Admission Requirements

Referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s overall aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking abilities, and oral and written English skills. Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests.

Required Examinations

For PhD and PG programs, IIT Delhi may require scores from national-level Indian examinations such as the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Department of Science and Technology (DST) INSPIRE program.

International examination scores may also be considered. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Furthermore, proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Candidates must submit scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
