IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , by 4 p.m.

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are being processed for the academic year 2026-27.

The official application portal for international candidates is available at international.iitd.ac.in. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Application Requirements

Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills. This assessment will be in both oral and written English.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from national examinations. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also considered. Accepted scores include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.

Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination, among others. The final selection depends on the interview and submitted academic qualifications.
