IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submissions is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.

Application Process

Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . Applicants need to provide a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency.

Applicants must also name two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills, according to the admission notification.

Eligibility and Requirements

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs at IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance examinations. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

Additionally, candidates must submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Basis

IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
