Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The deadline for submitting applications is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27.
Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters.
Referees will assess candidates’ aptitude, field-specific knowledge, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from national entrance examinations. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE)
International examination scores are also considered. These include:
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
Candidates may also need to demonstrate English language proficiency through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
The institute will notify selected candidates for the interview stage. Final admission offers will follow successful completion of the interview process.
