Referees will assess candidates on their aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language abilities. This information is according to the official IIT Delhi notification.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may also require scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. Accepted tests include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Selection Process
Final admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive interview invitations.
An interview committee, composed of faculty members from the relevant discipline, will conduct the interviews. This committee will evaluate candidates’ suitability for the program.
Applicants must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, Cambridge English Examination, or similar language assessments. These scores demonstrate a candidate’s ability to succeed in an English-speaking academic environment.
