IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply for the academic year 2026-27. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 PM .

Admission Details

Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.

Referees will assess candidates on aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information comes from the institute’s official notification.

Eligibility and Requirements

Admission to PhD and PG programs may require scores from specific Indian entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also accepted. Candidates may submit Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) scores. Applicants must also provide scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will grant admission based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
