Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, can apply for admission for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .

Eligibility and Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. The application also requires the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from standardized tests:
- Indian Tests: Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
- International Tests: Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English Proficiency Tests
A demonstration of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted test scores include:

Selection Process
Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel. This panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
