IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions for International Students – Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications from international students for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in.

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

IIT Delhi may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International test scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered.

Proof of English language proficiency is mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission is based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
