IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27.

Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website. The portal will close at 4:00 PM on March 30, 2026 .

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters.

Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This information is based on the official notification.

Eligibility Criteria and Scores

Admission may require scores from national tests such as Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. These are for PhD and PG programs.

International examination scores are also considered. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Admission Process

IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Students with strong academic records will receive interview invitations.

The interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. The final selection will depend on this interview and submitted credentials.
