Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened admissions for its Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) and postgraduate (PG) programs to international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are accepted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international entrance examinations. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) or University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs. International test scores like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
Candidates must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department.
