IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students – Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible to apply. Applications are for the academic years 2026-27.

Prospective students must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They will also need to provide names of two referees. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Admission Requirements

IIT Delhi may require scores from national-level entrance exams. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), and DST INSPIRE.

International examination scores are also accepted. Candidates can submit scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English proficiency test scores are mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited.

An interview committee, composed of faculty members from the relevant discipline, will assess applicants. The committee evaluates overall aptitude and suitability for the program.
