IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for Foreign Students | Apply by March 30

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign national students can apply. The application deadline is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m. Applications are being accepted for the academic years 2026-27. Interested students can apply through the official website at international.iitd.ac.in .

Eligibility Criteria

Non-Indian nationals are eligible to apply. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English language proficiency.

Application Requirements

Candidates must provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted for recommendation letters. The referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.

Additional requirements may include scores from standardized tests. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered.

Proof of English language proficiency is also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may be accepted.

Admission Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. This interview will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant discipline.
