IIT Delhi is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 . Eligible foreign nationals can submit applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application window will close at 4 pm on March 30, 2026. This applies to admissions for the academic year 2026-27.
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They must also provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters.
Referees will be asked to assess a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English communication abilities. This information is detailed in the official notification.
Program Requirements
Candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores are also considered. Accepted tests include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
IIT Delhi also requires proof of English language proficiency. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews.
An interview committee will comprise faculty members from the relevant academic discipline. The committee will evaluate candidates.
