IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are being accepted for the academic year 2026-27. Prospective students must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants need to provide a statement or self-declaration of their English language proficiency. They must also list two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to evaluate the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication skills.
Depending on the program, candidates may need to submit scores from standardized tests. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) for PhD and PG programs.
International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered. Additionally, proof of English proficiency through tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or the Cambridge English Examination is required.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant department.
