IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications can be submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in .

Admission Requirements

Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English language skills.

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International applicants may also submit scores from exams such as the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee will assess the candidate’s suitability for the program.
