IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application portal closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4:00 PM.

Admissions Overview

Foreign nationals are eligible to apply for the academic year 2026-27. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Prospective students can submit their applications via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .

Application Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be contacted to comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field-specific proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Submission of scores from standardized tests may be required. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE
  • Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
  • Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)

International students may also need to present scores from English proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission to IIT Delhi’s PhD and PG programs will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation to interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
