IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Interested students can apply online through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application window is open for the academic year 2026-27. Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Applicants must provide a statement of English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide letters of recommendation. The letters will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Eligibility and Required Scores
IIT Delhi may require scores from national or international standardized tests. These can include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
- Graduate Records Examination (GRE)
- Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT)
English language proficiency test scores are also mandatory. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on the candidate’s performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to interview with a faculty committee in their chosen discipline.
