Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Applications are for the 2026-27 academic year. Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website atinternational.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Requirements
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Applicants must submit a statement of English language proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will submit recommendation letters.
Referees will comment on a candidate’s aptitude. Comments will cover proficiency in their chosen field, research potential, and independent thinking skills. Oral and written English proficiency will also be assessed.
Examination Scores
Candidates may need to submit scores from national and international examinations. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Other relevant tests are Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET). The Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) is also an option.
International examination scores can also be submitted. These include Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
English language proficiency tests are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for interviews.
An interview committee will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The committee will assess candidates during the interview.
