IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Details
The application portal will remain open until 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. This applies to admissions for the academic year 2026-27. Non-Indian nationals are eligible. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement of English language proficiency. They also need to list two referees who can submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to evaluate a candidate’s aptitude, field-specific skills, research potential, independent thinking, and English communication abilities.
Admission may require scores from standardized tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE.
International examination scores such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) may also be considered. English proficiency tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination scores are also needed.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on interview performance. Students with strong academic records will receive an invitation to interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
