IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students: Apply by March 30

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026 .

Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible. Applications are submitted online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in . The portal closes at 4 PM on March 30, 2026.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to comment on the candidate’s academic aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language abilities, according to the institute’s notification.

Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include:

  • Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
  • Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
  • University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
  • DST INSPIRE

International applicants may also submit scores from exams such as the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

English language proficiency test scores are also required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
