Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications for PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application window closes on March 30, 2026 , at 4 p.m.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply. Applications are open for the academic year 2026-27. Interested candidates must apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal atinternational.iitd.ac.in.
Application Requirements
Applicants must provide a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to submit the names of two referees who will provide recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
While not always mandatory, scores from national eligibility tests like GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, or DST INSPIRE may be considered. International test scores from GRE and GMAT can also be submitted.
English language proficiency scores from tests like TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English are required.
Selection Process
Admission will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
