IIT Delhi PhD, PG Admissions for International Students Open

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) has opened applications for PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. Foreign nationals can apply. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 , at 4:00 PM.

Admission Details

International students, including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) and Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible. Applicants must submit a statement on their English proficiency. They also need to provide names of two referees for recommendation letters. Referees will assess aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English skills.

Eligibility and Requirements

Admission is open for the 2026-27 academic year. Applications are submitted through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal: international.iitd.ac.in .

Depending on the program, applicants may need to submit scores from national or international tests. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International tests like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.

English language proficiency test scores are required. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.

Selection Process

IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Those with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The institute will evaluate candidates’ research potential and independent thinking skills.
