IIT Delhi is accepting applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs from international students. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal at international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Details
The application window will close at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026. Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards.
Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted to provide recommendations regarding the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.
Required Examinations and Scores
Submission of scores from national entrance examinations may be required. These include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) exam, University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or the Innovation in Science Pursuit for Inspired Research (DST INSPIRE) fellowship.
International examination scores are also accepted. These include the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
Furthermore, candidates must demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will base admissions on interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited for interviews. These interviews will be conducted by a committee of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
