IIT Delhi PhD & PG Admissions Open for International Students

IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and Postgraduate (PG) programs. The application portal for the 2026-27 academic year is open until March 30, 2026 . Interested candidates can submit their applications through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.

Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals. This includes individuals holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. The application deadline is set for March 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM.

Admission Requirements

Applicants must submit a self-declaration of English proficiency. They will also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will be contacted for recommendation letters.

Referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills. This assessment is part of the official notification.

IIT Delhi may require scores from national entrance exams. These can include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. These scores are relevant for PhD and PG program eligibility.

International examination scores are also considered. Applicants may submit scores from Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).

Additionally, candidates must demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted test scores include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination. Other language tests may also be considered.

Selection Process

Admission decisions will be based on interview performance. Candidates with strong academic records will receive an invitation for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
