IIT Delhi is now accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs . The application deadline is March 30, 2026 .
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27 . Interested students must submit their applications online via the official IIT Delhi international admissions portal.
Admission Requirements
Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to list two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will comment on the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, and English communication skills.
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from examinations such as:
- Indian Entrance Exams: GATE, CSIR, UGC NET, DST INSPIRE
- International Exams: GRE, GMAT
International students must also submit scores from English language proficiency tests. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Students with strong academic records will be invited for an interview. The interview panel will consist of faculty members from the relevant academic discipline.
