Admissions Overview
Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, can apply. Applications are for the academic year 2026-27. The application portal is accessible at international.iitd.ac.in. The portal closes at 4 p.m. on March 30, 2026.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement or self-declaration of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees. These referees will comment on the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English skills.
Eligibility and Scores
Admission may require scores from national tests like the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International exam scores, such as Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT), may also be considered. English language proficiency test scores from TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, or Cambridge English Examination are required.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their interview performance. Applicants with strong academic records will be invited for an interview with a faculty committee from the relevant discipline.
