IIT Delhi has opened applications for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs for international students. The deadline to apply is March 30, 2026, at 4 p.m.
Admission Details
Foreign nationals, including Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) and Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) cardholders, are eligible. Applications are accepted online at international.iitd.ac.in for the academic year 2026-27.
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit a statement of English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will assess the candidate’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills.
Academic and Entrance Exams
Eligibility for PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These include:
- Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE)
- Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR)
- University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET)
- DST INSPIRE
International examinations like the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also accepted.
English Proficiency Tests
Candidates must demonstrate English language proficiency through tests such as:
- TOEFL
- IELTS
- TOEIC
- OPI
- OPIC
- Cambridge English Examination
- Other recognized language tests
Selection Process
Admission will be based on an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will be invited to meet with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline. The committee will evaluate their suitability for the program.
