IIT Delhi is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Prospective students can apply through the official IIT Delhi international admissions website: international.iitd.ac.in .
Admission Details
The application portal will remain open until 4 PM on March 30, 2026. Foreign nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards, are eligible to apply.
Applicants must submit a statement declaring their English proficiency. They also need to provide the names of two referees who will submit recommendation letters. These referees will be asked to assess the applicant’s aptitude, field proficiency, research potential, independent thinking skills, and English language abilities.
Eligibility and Testing
Admission to the PhD and PG programs may require scores from standardized tests. These can include the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE. International applicants may also submit scores from the Graduate Records Examination (GRE) or Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT).
In addition to academic qualifications and test scores, candidates must demonstrate English language proficiency. Accepted tests include TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, OPI, OPIC, and the Cambridge English Examination.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will select candidates based on their performance in an interview. Students with strong academic records will be invited to an interview panel composed of faculty members from the relevant discipline. The interview committee will evaluate the candidate’s suitability for the program.
