The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is accepting applications from international students for its PhD and postgraduate (PG) programs. The application deadline is March 30, 2026 . Foreign nationals can apply for the academic year 2026-27 via the official IIT Delhi international admissions website at international.iitd.ac.in.
Admission Requirements
Eligibility extends to non-Indian nationals, including those holding Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) or Person of Indian Origin (PIO) cards. Applicants must provide a self-declaration of English proficiency.
Candidates need to nominate two referees for recommendation letters. These referees will assess the applicant’s aptitude, field-specific knowledge, research potential, independent thinking, and English language skills, according to official notifications.
Submission of scores from standardized tests may be required. These include Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET), or DST INSPIRE for PhD and PG programs.
International examination scores like Graduate Records Examination (GRE) and Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT) are also considered. For English proficiency, scores from tests such as TOEFL, IELTS, TOEIC, or Cambridge English are accepted.
Selection Process
IIT Delhi will admit students based on their performance in an interview. Candidates with strong academic records will receive invitations to interview with a faculty committee from their chosen discipline.
